Ineos Styrolution Provides Styrenic Material for Daimler ACTROS Truck Part

INEOS Styrolution, the global leader in styrenics, announces that its styrenic material Luran S grade has been selected by the automotive parts manufacturer RPC Promens for use in Daimler Actros trucks. Truck cabin corner parts are made of a specific Luran® S grade in Daimler’s color “Arctic White”.

Truck cabin corner parts guide air around the corner of the truck and thereby reduce dirt on doors and side panels. Luran S 797S SPF30 WT010027, an acrylonitrile styrene acrylate (ASA), turned out to be the best material for the job. The material is known for its high surface quality and good impact strength, including enhanced color fastness and delivering superior long-term performance when exposed to UV irradiation and heat. It provides a lightweight solution, optimized surface aesthetics and it does not require painting.

Experts from Daimler’s truck division, the moulding specialist RPC Promens and INEOS Styrolution worked in close cooperation to find the best solution for the given task.

“We put a specific emphasize on the Daimler color and color stability requirements,” adds Wilco Vreeman, Manager Process Engineering at RPC Promens. “Together with color experts from INEOS Styrolution we were able to perfectly match the Arctic White Daimler color.”

“During the start-up phase we improved the injection molding process productivity and product quality characteristics to meet the aesthetic needs of Daimler and cycle time requirements of RPC Promens” adds Frank Krabbenborg, Technical Account Manager at INEOS Styrolution.

“We are very pleased with the cooperation,” summarizes Christophe Ginss, Sales Director Automotive EMEA with global coordination role at INEOS Styrolution. “We are working closely with this major European truck manufacturer to develop economical high quality solutions by providing a dedicated technical support to its supplier. Our joint efforts are the key for success.”
